Issue one of the parkrun magazine is now sold out.
Take a look inside issue one.
The first issue of parkrun magazine is packed with stories from members of the parkrun community: we visited Dudley parkrun and also took our cameras to Hackney Marshes parkrun in London.
We also explore how parkrun is at the forefront of social prescribing: tackling the UK’s health crises head-on by connecting patients to non-clinical services and providing access to practical and emotional support networks to improve health and wellbeing. The parkrun practice initiative links parkrun events with GP surgeries, encouraging staff and patients to come along on Saturday or Sunday mornings and see what parkrun and junior parkrun are all about.
Hills and forests.
Walking, jogging or running up hills can have real health benefits. With the help of two coaches and an international athlete, we put together some ideas about how you can incorporate going uphill into your regular activity routine.
Being outside in a forest, or under the trees in your local park, gives you the chance to reset and unwind. Psychologist Ruth Allen explains how the constantly changing landscape of the forest – from day to day and season to season – boosts our moods and calms our nervous system.
Trying parkrun for the first time.
There’s a special section of the magazine dedicated to anyone thinking about coming to parkrun for the first time. As well as practical information about what to do at your first event, we also showcase a real-life story about a first parkrun and debunk a few myths about what people might think parkrun is all about!
